Ing. Lukáš Horný Ph.D.

Profile:

Lukáš Horný deals with biomechanics of blood vessels; especially methods of nonlinear continuum mechanics describing a response of heterogeneous, (in)elastic material. He pays special attention to internal structure of blood vessels because the structure and the arrangement crucially affect mechanical response. Besides, he deals with nonlinear materials (elastomer) reinforced with NiTi wires.

Latest activities are focused on

(1) Biomechanics and pathobiomechanics of human elastic arteries during aging with reference to degradation of extracellular matrix (especially elastin), and utilization of these facts in forensic age at time of the death estimation
(2) Biomechanics of stent-artery and stent-atherosclerotic lesion interaction
(3) Mechanical properties of bioartificial aortic valve developed by tissue-engineering
