Table shows the geometry of the tubes and conditions, under which the experiments were held.
Self-excited and forced oscillation of elastic thin walled pipes and blood vessels can be simulated by our experimental line. Pressure differences are measured by special sensors for physiological range of pressures. Experiments are controlled by a computer with LabView software and National Instruments acquisition card. The specimen can be loaded not only by inner pressure, but also by external pressure in an experimental chamber, which is equipped with three pressure sensors adjustable in direction perpendicular to the specimen. Axial adjustable pins for fixing the specimen can create axial pretension up to 20% of its original length. All parts of the experimental line are made from transparent materials according to our own design and it is possible to combine them with other parts. This allows changing conditions of experiments easily. Theoretical background and source data for experiments are processed in cooperation with ÚT AV ČR (Institute of Thermomechanics, Czech Academy of Science). Numerical simulations of observed phenomena are also carried out.
Coronary stents can be placed into specimen and their influence to self-excited and forced oscillation of elastic thin walled pipes could be observed. The stents are provided by Czech company Dr. Karel Volenec-ELLA-CS, Hradec Kralove, which is one of the major worldwide producers.Prof. Ing. Rudolf Žitný, CSc. ; Ing. Lukáš Horný Ph.D. ; Hynek Chlup
